The Crescent City Depression Glass Society was founded in 1973 in order to bring together a group of people in the New Orleans area who were all interested in collecting – as well as lovers of – Depression-era glassware. We are a non-profit organization that also supports Angels’ Place of New Orleans.

Over the years, our membership grew, and so did the kinds of items our members collected. Besides mass-produced glassware of the 30’s and 40’s, our members also collect:

· American and European glassware of the 19th and early 20th centuries
· Fine china
· Antique furniture
· Product memorabilia and packaging
· Vinyl records and vintage sheet music
· Elegant glassware from the early to mid-20th century
· Mid-Century Modern collectibles of all kinds
· Vintage kitchenware like Pyrex, McKee, Hazel-Atlas, and Fire-King brands
· Collections of one type of item like teapots or butter dishes
· Milk glass, as well as items made from milk glass such as lamps
· Vintage pottery such as McCoy and Shawnee, and Roseville
· Commemorative items of all kinds, glass or otherwise
· Art glass and artworks

The list goes on and on. Because of the variety of our members’ collections, there is always someone with whom to share information and trade collecting stories. We also support each other by being “on the lookout” for items we know our fellow members would like to add to their collections. In general, everyone is actively involved in and dedicated to adding “just one more piece” to their collections (yeah, right!).

We promote our love and knowledge of vintage items through the monthly programs that are part of each meeting. We also encourage members to bring something from their collections that is related in some way to the program for “show and tell”. Finally, we sponsor different collections on display from time to time throughout the region, such as our regular monthly displays at the main branch of the Jefferson Parish Library in Metairie.
